Summary: This position’s responsibilities are to assist, oversee, guide, and direct students in Student Council activities.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan School Teaching Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration.
- Clear criminal history check
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise students during meetings/activities, instructing on elections, and overseeing planning of activities, ensuring goals of meetings and activities are met.
- Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and the community and communicate directions in a clear, concise manner; ability to deal with problems in a variety of situations.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board of education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes.
- Meet daily, weekly, monthly deadlines with flexibility and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to meet multiple demands from several people.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, extensive walking, twisting, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same body, hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books. The employee will be required to work either indoors or outside continuously, depending on the specific location of the meeting or activity.
